CORVETTES OF ENID HISTORY

Corvettes of Enid was founded in October of 1992 by a group of individuals who were interested in the maintenance, preservation and restoration of “America’s only true two seat sports car” and who just wanted to have fun with their cars.  The group is interested in educating Corvette owners about the heritage of their car and helping them obtain the camaraderie and maximum benefit from Corvette ownership.  The club currently has nearly 200 individual members.

Activities include monthly cruises, Dine Around events, car shows, parades and civic activities including charitable donations.

The Club’s main fund raising event, “The Corvette Expo”, is held the first weekend of April each year.   Proceeds are donated to local charity groups such as Garfield County Child Advocacy Council, Spruce up a life, Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse, Shop with a cop, Enid AM too AMBUCS, RSVP, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, Leonardo’s Adventure Quest, Ainslie’s Angels, Anchored by Love, and Youth and Family Service to name a few.  Over $60,000 has been donated in the past several years.

Each year, the members schedule several short trips as well as one long trip.   They have gone to the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, the Mount Rushmore area, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park and into Canada; toured the National Parks in Utah, Key West Florida, the Grand Canyon, a tour of Michigan, including the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, and a two week trip to Banff/Jasper National Parks in Canada.

One of the favorite destinations is Bowling Green, Kentucky, the home of the National Corvette Museum as well as the only Corvette assembly plant in the United States.

The club meets at 7:00 PM on the first Thursday of each month.  Meetings are held at the Circle of Life Center, 3022 North Van Buren, Enid, Oklahoma.  Annual dues are $50.00.
